Healthcare professionals

Healthcare professionals perform care-related activities as part of their profession. They perform tasks under the direction of or on behalf of a doctor. A healthcare professional is therefore someone who provides direct or indirect care to patiënts.

The title healthcare professional is a general term and is not, in itself, a position or qualification. Training enables a healthcare professional to fill a specific position or obtain a qualification. Examples of healthcare professionals include physical therapists, podiatrists, speech therapists, and diëtitians. Healthcare professionals work at various levels.
