Surgery

If physical complaints do not diminish with rest and/or treatment, surgery may be considered. Surgeries are surgical procedures aimed at solving a medical problem or reducing physical complaints. In addition, surgeries can also be used to establish a diagnosis, for example during a keyhole procedure.

Surgery is an invasive procedure. This means that tissues, implants, and/or organs are opened, altered, implanted, or removed using medical instruments. Surgeries normally take place in the operating room. These are found in a hospital or in a clinic. The surgery is performed by a medical team of surgeons, an anesthesiologist, and surgical assistants.
